Leigha Simonton, Methamphetamine Distribution, Texas 2024

WICHITA FALLS, TX – In a gritty operation that made headlines across Texas, federal authorities have arrested 22 alleged drug traffickers in Wichita Falls, Texas, as part of a major methamphetamine distribution ring.

Leading the charge was U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton, who announced the charges against the suspects. Sixteen of them were nabbed during a Thursday takedown that involved multiple tactical units, including FBI SWAT teams and the Hostage Rescue Team, the Texas Department of Public Safety Special Response Teams, the U.S. Marshals, and local police.

Among those charged are Dywane Cecil Graham, alias ‘D’, Dmetrius Lakeith Brooks, alias ‘D Blocc’, and Dominique Equincy Hall, alias ‘Playa D’. They face conspiracy charges for their alleged roles in distributing controlled substances. A separate criminal complaint was filed against Ujamaa Jelani Rashaun Ballard for similar charges.

The investigation began in March 2023 with confidential informants leading law enforcement to Graham and Brooks, members of the Crimps gang. Over the following months, numerous buys were made, and substantial quantities of drugs were seized, including 7,229.46 grams of methamphetamine, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and counterfeit Percocet pills.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Montes is handling the prosecution of the case, which carries a minimum of ten years in federal prison for each defendant if convicted. The investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, local police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s South Central Lab.

Despite being charged with serious crimes, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
