A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted 27-year-old Quintin Owens of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, on assault and interstate domestic violence charges, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan today.
Owens, a resident of Western Pennsylvania, is accused of strangling, assaulting, and wounding his intimate and dating partner during a 2022 cruise ship excursion departing from Orlando, Florida, on October 11, 2022.
The three-count Indictment names Owens as the sole defendant, and the law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Nicole Vasquez Schmitt is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment.
An indictment is an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Owens’ alleged crimes are a stark reminder that no one is immune to the consequences of domestic violence and assault, regardless of the circumstances. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
The prosecution of domestic violence and assault cases is a priority for the federal government, and the Department of Justice will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who commit these crimes are held accountable.
