ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – In a shocking crackdown on immigration, 67 individuals have been charged with Illegal Reentry After Deportation in New Mexico, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico announced today.
The cases, which were prosecuted in partnership with the El Paso Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations El Paso, and other federal, state, and county agencies, mark a significant blow to those attempting to evade the law.
Of the 67 individuals charged, many had prior criminal convictions for drug trafficking and illegal reentry, a stark reminder of the dangers posed by those who would ignore the law and put our communities at risk.
One notable case involves Andrew Michael Dillehay, who was charged with fleeing at high speed from an immigration checkpoint in Alamogordo, New Mexico. On August 4, 2025, U.S. Border Patrol agents encountered Dillehay at the checkpoint, but instead of cooperating, he sped away and was eventually apprehended near Organ, New Mexico.
The cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting our communities from violent crime.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico is committed to public safety and a secure border, and these enhanced enforcement efforts have yielded significant results, including the apprehension of aliens engaged in unlawful activity or with serious criminal history, including human trafficking, sexual assault, and violence against children.
The District of New Mexico, which consists of 33 counties and shares 180 miles of international border with Mexico, is a vital front in the fight against illegal immigration and transnational crime. Assistant U.S. Attorneys from Albuquerque and Las Cruces are working closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to prosecute immigration-related and other federal offenses.
