Colorado Man Charged With Methamphetamine Trafficking

A Denver, Colorado man has been slapped with serious charges for allegedly distributing and possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Brandon Jeraye Trejo, 22, was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 9, 2014, for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 20 years in custody and/or a $1,000,000 fine, a mandatory 3 years up to life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

According to the indictment, on or about November 14, 2014, Trejo knowingly and intentionally distributed, and possessed with intent to distribute, a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. The charge is merely an accusation and Trejo is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller is prosecuting the case.

Trejo remains in custody pending release on bond. A trial date has not been set, but the charges against him are serious and carry significant penalties if he is found guilty.

The people of South Dakota and the surrounding areas are eager to see justice served in this case. As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: methamphetamine trafficking will not be tolerated.

With the help of law enforcement agencies, we will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.
