Fairmont Man Sentenced for Felon in Possession of a Firearm
A 24-year-old Fairmont man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, federal officials announced.
Kyle Kuroski, a Fairmont resident, was found to be in possession of a .45 caliber pistol in Marion County last year. The discovery led to a guilty plea from Kuroski in June 2016 on one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Kuroski’s prior conviction for Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine in state court in West Virginia contributed to his sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Fairmont Police Department conducted the investigation. U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case.
Kuroski’s sentence reflects the gravity of the offense, which puts both the community and the individual at risk of harm. The U.S. Attorney’s office remains committed to enforcing federal laws and protecting the public from violent crime.
