Arlington, WA – Christopher David Doggett, a 35-year-old resident of Arlington, Washington, was handed a fifteen-year sentence today in U.S. District Court for Seattle after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.
DOGGETT had previously served a 56-month state sentence for similar offenses and had already accumulated a criminal history dating back to 2003 when he was convicted of possession and distribution of child pornography. Today’s sentencing, which includes an additional 124 months, brings his total prison term to fifteen years.
Chief U.S. District Judge Marsha J. Pechman emphasized DOGGETT’s extensive troubled history with child pornography during the hearing, noting that he must remain vigilant every day to prevent any further victimization.
In 2010, Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies searched DOGGETT’s home and uncovered more than 600 images of child pornography on his digital devices. Disturbingly, they also found explicit images of him molesting a young child. He was subsequently convicted in Snohomish County Superior Court for dealing child pornography.
DOGGETT is required to register as a sex offender under federal plea agreement terms and must undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation. Judge Pechman has sentenced him to lifetime supervision by a federal probation officer.
This case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department led the investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Jerrod Patterson prosecuted the case.
