Robert Samuel Stark, 48, from West Valley City, Utah, has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for the sinister crimes of enticing a minor for illegal sexual activity and distributing child pornography.

This grim sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups after Stark pleaded guilty to his heinous actions. The judge’s decision comes as a victory for law enforcement agencies like the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado, the Unified Police Department, and the FBI, who tirelessly worked together to crack down on this predator.

Stark’s downfall began when he engaged in online conversations with Victim A, a 15-year-old girl, in August 2013. He requested and received sexually explicit images from her, and later met with her for illicit sexual activities.

The investigation took a turn when Stark used the social network Chathour to communicate with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, only to find out it was an undercover officer in Colorado. He asked the officer to send explicit images, which Stark then forwarded to her.

Starting with an undercover operation by the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office, officers led to Stark and passed the case to the Unified Police Department. A UPD detective identified Victim A, leading to Stark’s arrest at Sugarhouse Park on December 13, 2013. The park was his planned location for illegal sexual encounters with both Victim A and another minor girl.

As part of the sentence, Stark must also forfeit an iPhone, laptop computer, and a DVD player and memory card, which were used to commit these serious offenses.
