Danette M. Stevenson, Government Property Embezzlement, Cincinnati …

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE — CINCINNATI – In a stunning turn of events, 37-year-old Danette M. Stevenson has been charged by a grand jury in the Northern District of Ohio with theft and making false statements. The indictment claims Stevenson embezzled nearly $52,286.63 from government programs she was not entitled to.

According to the charges, Stevenson stole approximately $38,130.63 in Social Security payments meant for someone else, as well as $14,156.00 in Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) benefits. The defendant is accused of using these funds for her own gain.

The grand jury also alleges that Stevenson made false statements on applications for both Social Security and Housing benefits, further fueling the charges against her.

Should she be convicted, Stevenson could face a sentence determined by the court, taking into account factors such as prior criminal record and role in the offense. However, any sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, which is typical in cases like this.

The investigation into Stevenson’s actions was carried out by agents from the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip J. Tripi and Trial Attorney Richard T. Hamilton, Jr., are handling the prosecution.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt. Stevenson will have her day in court where she is entitled to a fair trial, and the government must prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
