Marquise Bell Charged with Unlawful Ammunition Possession, Philadel…

Marquise Bell, 25, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is back in the crosshairs of federal prosecutors, charged today with unlawful possession of ammunition as a convicted felon. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury, marks the latest chapter in Bell’s ongoing run-ins with the law.

The charge stems from evidence gathered during a joint investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Authorities allege Bell was found in possession of live rounds despite a prior felony conviction—a violation of federal law that carries a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment.

United States Attorney Zane David Memeger confirmed the indictment, emphasizing that felons with access to ammunition pose a direct threat to public safety. “This is not a victimless offense,” Memeger stated. “Ammunition means violence. And when it’s in the hands of someone with a criminal record, the risk multiplies.”

The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Yvonne Osirim, who is pushing forward with federal prosecution under strict gun control statutes. No firearms were recovered in this instance, but federal law prohibits felons from possessing not just guns, but the means to fire them.

Bell remains in custody pending arraignment. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum period of supervised release following any prison term, along with potential fines and long-term restrictions on movement and employment.

An indictment is not a conviction. Marquise Bell is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say additional charges could follow pending forensic review and witness statements.
