Cederic Sharnard Bruce, Cocaine Possession with Intent to Distribut…

Cederic Sharnard Bruce, a 31-year-old Florence, SC resident, was today meted out a harsh sentence of over 11 years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug distribution conspiracy. United States Attorney Beth Drake announced that Bruce was sentenced to 140 months for possession with intent to distribute significant quantities of cocaine and cocaine base.

United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks of Charleston oversaw the sentencing, which came after a thorough investigation spanning back to 2005. Bruce was one of several individuals targeted in an ongoing probe by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the Florence Police Department (FPD), the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Their efforts were bolstered by the Pee Dee Violent Crimes Task Force.

The case reached its pivotal moment in July 2013 when a FPD officer stopped Bruce’s vehicle, leading to the discovery of the illegal substances. The evidence presented during Bruce’s guilty plea hearing painted a clear picture of his role in the drug distribution network.

Assistant United States Attorney Christopher D. Taylor handled the prosecution for this case, which was investigated by agents from the FCSO, FPD, DCSO, and FBI, all working together with the Pee Dee Violent Crimes Task Force.

This sentence sends a strong message about the government’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in South Carolina. Bruce’s conviction and sentencing are expected to have a significant impact on the Florence County and Darlington County areas, where he was a known figure in the drug trade.
