Trenton, N.J. – A Long Branch, New Jersey, man faces a six-year sentence after being caught in the grim act of distributing child pornography.
Donald Haring, 62, pleaded guilty to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson. The judge imposed a 72-month prison term for the offense.
Haring admitted to using his computer at home to share explicit content with members of a public peer-to-peer file-sharing network. He confessed to having at least three videos and 600 images of child sexual abuse on various devices, according to court documents.
In addition to the prison sentence, Haring was sentenced to five years of supervised release by Judge Wolfson.
Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick commended special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), led by Acting Special Agent in Charge Brian A. Michael, for their role in the investigation that led to Haring’s conviction.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan M. Peck of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark, while Charles M. Moriarty Esq. represented the defense.
