Federal agents in Laredo, Texas, have arrested three men, Luis Macias-Molinas, 31, Ricardo Rosas Jr., 26, and Manuel Aguilar, aka Chino, 24, on charges of methamphetamine trafficking and firearms offenses.
According to a 16-count indictment, Macias-Molinas, Rosas, and Aguilar allegedly conspired to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine between May 24, 2013, and June 28, 2013. The charges also include allegations that Macias-Molinas and Rosas possessed with intent to distribute 50 grams and another 500 grams and more of a mixture containing methamphetamine on June 28, 2013.
The indictment further alleges that Macias-Molinas and Rosas distributed 50 grams of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of Mary Help of Christian School, a private school, on June 14, 2013. Additionally, Macias-Molinas allegedly distributed methamphetamine in a school zone on two other occasions, once within 1,000 feet of Clark Elementary School, a public elementary school, and another time near Mary Help of Christian School.
Macias-Molinas and Rosas face up to life in prison for the conspiracy charge, and for possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine within a school zone, Macias will face a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison for each of the three counts, while Rosas will serve a minimum of five and up to 80 years in federal prison upon conviction.
Aguilar, who is also a convicted felon, faces up to 10 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm, as well as up to 20 years and a possible $1 million fine for possessing with intent to distribute five grams or less of cocaine.
The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Laredo Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Sanjeev Bhasker and Homero Ramirez are prosecuting the case.
