Freeport man Miguel Jimenez Jr., 22, is headed to federal prison for 240 months — two decades behind bars — after pleading guilty to distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography. The brutal scope of his crimes, laid bare in court, revealed a predator who not only hoarded hundreds of illegal images and videos but actively sought out and threatened underage girls online.
On January 25, 2017, Jimenez admitted his guilt. Today, U.S. District Judge George Hanks imposed the maximum concurrent sentences: 240 months for distribution and receipt of child pornography, and 120 months for possession. The judge emphasized the need to protect the public and the vulnerable victims exploited in the material, which included children under 12, toddlers, and graphic depictions of sadism, bondage, and sexual penetration.
Forensic analysis of Jimenez’s devices and cloud storage exposed 658 images and 634 videos of child pornography. But the horror didn’t stop at possession. Investigators found Jimenez had contact with four minor females, pressuring them for nude photos. One girl was threatened: continue the online relationship or he’d send her naked pictures to her friends. He also chatted with others who shared his deviant interest in children.
Authorities first flagged Jimenez after detecting uploads of child pornography to a virtual storage account. A search warrant executed at his Freeport residence led to the seizure of multiple phones and computers. Since his arrest on May 5, 2016, Jimenez has been in custody, deemed a flight risk and danger to the community by U.S. Magistrate John R. Froeschner.
Further digital evidence showed Jimenez searched the internet with the query, “how much trouble can you be in for sending naked photos of ex,” revealing a calculating mind aware of consequences yet undeterred. He used multiple online platforms to target underage girls across the country, weaving digital traps under the cover of anonymity.
Convicted under Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative targeting child sexual exploitation, the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sherri Zack. Following his prison term, Jimenez will face lifetime supervised release, strict internet and child-contact restrictions, mandatory sex offender registration, and restitution to be determined. He will remain in custody until transferred to a federal prison facility.
