Miguel Jimenez Jr, Child Pornography Distribution, Texas 2024

Miguel Jimenez Jr., a 21-year-old man from Freeport, Texas, has pleaded guilty to three federal child pornography charges: distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography. The plea, entered in federal court, marks the end of a disturbing case that exposed a vast digital archive of exploited minors and predatory online behavior.

Jimenez first drew federal attention when investigators discovered he was uploading and storing child pornography through a virtual storage account. A May 5, 2016, search of his residence led to the seizure of multiple computers and cell phones. Forensic analysis revealed 658 images and 634 videos of child pornography, including material depicting minors under 12 engaged in sexual acts, sadism, bondage, penetration, and lewd exposure of genitals.

During the investigation, authorities found that Jimenez had chatted with unidentified users who shared his sexual interest in children. He used multiple online platforms to contact underage girls across the country. One victim was subjected to threats: Jimenez warned her he would distribute naked photos of her to her friends if she ended their online relationship.

Search history recovered from Jimenez’s devices included the query, “how much trouble can you be in for sending naked photos of ex,” suggesting awareness of legal consequences but no deterrence. His digital footprint painted a pattern of deliberate, calculated abuse and exploitation over an extended period.

Since his arrest on May 5, 2016, Jimenez has been held without bond. U.S. Magistrate John R. Froeschner ruled him a flight risk and danger to the community. U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks accepted the guilty plea and scheduled sentencing for May 17, 2017. Jimenez faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years for distribution and receipt, plus up to 10 additional years for possession. All charges carry a $250,000 maximum fine.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations led the case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sherri Zack. The case was brought under Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. Upon release, Jimenez will face lifelong supervised release terms and mandatory sex offender registration.
