Mark Anthony Hamauei, a 29-year-old man from Corpus Christi, Texas, has pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography—federal charges stemming from the sexual exploitation of two juvenile females in July 2016. The plea, accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge B. Janice Ellington, seals Hamauei’s fate as he awaits sentencing in a case that exposed a cache of illegal material and a pattern of predatory behavior.
Authorities moved in after a tip led to a search of Hamauei’s residence and vehicle, where investigators seized multiple electronic devices. A forensic sweep uncovered two videos depicting the sexual assault of the underage victims. But the horror didn’t stop there—law enforcement also recovered more than 1,400 images and 230 videos of child pornography, all tied directly to Hamauei’s possession and creation.
Hamauei was arrested on federal charges in October 2016 and has been locked up ever since. With no bond and no escape, he remains behind bars pending his May 3, 2017, sentencing before U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos. On each count, he faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison, plus a $250,000 maximum fine.
But prison won’t be the end of Hamauei’s accountability. Upon any eventual release, he could be placed on supervised release for life. The court will likely impose strict conditions: no Internet access, mandatory GPS monitoring, and prohibitions on contact with minors. These measures are designed to shield children from predators who, like Hamauei, weaponize technology for abuse.
The investigation was led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, with critical support from the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The collaboration underscores the federal push to dismantle networks of child exploitation, one predator at a time.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Hugo R. Martinez under Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual abuse. Through coordinated federal, state, and local efforts, the program targets those who produce, distribute, or possess child pornography.
