Robert Grimmett, Child Pornography Creation and Distribution, Ohio 2025

⏱ 2 min read

A 25-year-old Ohio man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for creating and distributing child pornography featuring the sexual abuse of a toddler. Robert Grimmett, of South Point, Ohio, was arrested in May 2025 after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to his location. The tip was received by HSI Netherlands and quickly shared with HSI Cincinnati, which obtained and executed a search warrant at Grimmett’s home within a day. Grimmett pleaded guilty in September 2025.

The investigation began on May 28, 2025, when HSI Netherlands received the cyber tip regarding newly produced child sexual abuse materials. Account data for the Kik application used to distribute the child pornography led investigators to Grimmett, whose Facebook photos confirmed his identity as the same man featured in the child sexual abuse materials.

U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II praised the swift work and international coordination by HSI, saying it saved the toddler from further abuse. Grimmett’s sentence was imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. McFarland.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project marshals federal, state, and local resources to identify and rescue victims and prosecute offenders.
