Mark Joseph Uhlenbrock, a 62-year-old former commercial pilot from Chesterfield, Missouri, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for his role in a disturbing case of internet stalking.
Uhlenbrock, who was on bond pending sentencing, was placed into federal custody during a hearing held at the United States District Court in San Antonio, Texas. United States District Judge Xavier Rodriguez ordered the defendant’s custody.
The charges against Uhlenbrock stem from a long history of abuse, dating back to 2006 when the victim and the defendant ended their romantic relationship. Over the course of nearly a decade, Uhlenbrock repeatedly posted nude photographs of his victim on various websites, including MyEx.com, without her consent.
This was not an isolated incident. In fact, the defendant’s actions continued despite multiple lawsuits filed by the victim in Bexar County civil district court. The defendant’s actions caused substantial emotional distress to the victim, who was subjected to this harassment for nearly a decade.
On August 26, 2015, FBI agents executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized two laptop computers. An examination of the laptops revealed a shocking amount of evidence, including nude photos of the victim and numerous bookmarks to links where the defendant had posted nude photos of her.
Uhlenbrock pleaded guilty to one count of stalking on June 15, 2016. By doing so, he admitted to the charges and acknowledged the harm he had caused to the victim. The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Wannarka.
Uhlenbrock will serve 41 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release upon his release. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of online harassment and the importance of taking swift action to protect victims of such crimes.
