Mark George Sentenced for Building Ghost Guns in FL Garage

MIAMI – Mark Gene George, 58, of Port St. Lucie, made a chilling admission this week when he was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for manufacturing and selling ghost guns and ammunition right from his own garage.

George’s home turned into a clandestine workshop where he assembled unserialized AR-style rifles and produced rounds of assorted ammunition. His operation was discovered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) during a federal search warrant execution in December 2020.

According to court documents, agents recovered an AK-style rifle, multiple pistols, and six firearms lacking serial numbers or manufacturer information. Over 5,000 rounds of ammunition and the tools needed for their manufacture were also seized.

The ATF’s Miami Field Division took the lead in the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Hoover handling the prosecution. U.S. Attorney Juan Antonio Gonzalez announced the sentence alongside Acting Special Agent in Charge Christopher Robinson.

George later confessed to building the ghost guns and selling firearms online. His crime spree landed him in federal court in Fort Pierce, where he was convicted of possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon.
