FBI Pittsburgh, PA – In a stark reminder of the city’s ongoing battle with illegal firearms and drugs, Dreshawn McBroom, 33, of Hamilton Avenue in Pittsburgh, has been slapped with a federal indictment for violating firearm and narcotics laws.
The Superseding Indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh, alleges that on November 30, 2021, McBroom was caught with eutylone, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and a firearm. His prior felony convictions make it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
The law stipulates a maximum sentence of 15 years to life imprisonment for such offenses. The actual sentence will hinge on the severity of the crimes and McBroom’s criminal history. As of now, the defendant is being held at Allegheny County Jail.
Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Ball is handling the prosecution of this case for the federal government. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
It’s important to note that a superseding indictment is merely an accusation, and McBroom is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
