PITTSBURGH, PA – Dreshawn McBroom, a 33-year-old resident of Pittsburgh’s Hamilton Avenue, has been slammed with federal charges for illegal firearm and drug possession. According to the United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung, a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh indicted McBroom on three counts.
The Superseding Indictment reveals that on November 30, 2021, law enforcement found McBroom in possession of eutylone, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and a firearm. His prior felony convictions make it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Under federal law, McBroom faces a maximum sentence of 15 years to life imprisonment. The actual sentence will be determined by the severity of the offenses and his criminal history. Currently, McBroom remains detained at the Allegheny County Jail.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Ball on behalf of the government. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation that led to the Superseding Indictment.
It’s important to note that a superseding indictment is merely an accusation, and McBroom is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This grim case underscores the relentless pursuit of justice in the war on drugs and illegal firearms. The public’s safety is at the forefront of these efforts, as authorities continue their battle against crime in Pittsburgh and beyond.
