Clark, SD – A grim chapter in the battle against online predators was closed on November 29, 2021, as Anthony Dialo Holmes, a 37-year-old resident of Clark, South Dakota, received a sweeping sentence for his involvement in the receipt and distribution of child pornography.
Holmes was handed down a 120-month federal prison term, followed by an additional 10 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a special assessment of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. The United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann presided over the sentencing.
The case against Holmes began on August 17, 2020, when he was indicted by a federal grand jury. His guilty plea came exactly one year later, on August 31, 2021.
According to court documents, Holmes’s criminal activities spanned from September 1, 2019, to May 22, 2020. During this period, the defendant used his Kik Messenger account to exchange files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. His actions were not without consequences as they led to an investigation by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.
The justice system was swift in bringing Holmes to account. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case, ensuring that the perpetrator faced the full weight of the law. Following his conviction, Holmes was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
This latest victory against child pornography rings serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing fight against online predators and the importance of vigilance in monitoring social media platforms for illegal activity. The Grimy Times will continue to report on such cases, emphasizing the severity of these crimes and the relentless pursuit of justice.
