Raytown Criminal Becher Sentenced to 20 Years for $10M Meth & Fraud Scheme

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Raytown’s Michael B. Becher faces a 20-year federal prison sentence for orchestrating a massive $10 million methamphetamine and fraud scheme that exploited the identities of Johnson County government employees.

The 41-year-old defendant was sentenced in two separate hearings by U.S. District Judge Greg Kays, with his total punishment including 20 years for drug trafficking conspiracy and five years for the credit card fraud, to be served concurrently.

Becher’s sentence also includes a $1,165,500 money judgment representing the proceeds of the methamphetamine distribution, based on his sale of 185 kilograms at $6,300 per kilogram. Additionally, he must pay $189,378 in restitution for victims of the credit card fraud and stolen property.

On April 13, 2022, Becher pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine from September 2018 to November 2019. He was part of a drug-trafficking organization led by Mirza Alihodzic, who received a 35-year sentence without parole.

Becher’s arrest came after he met with a co-conspirator to purchase 40 to 50 kilograms of methamphetamine in California. Law enforcement found 11 kilograms of meth purchased from him in the two weeks before his arrest and an additional two kilograms from another source. His BMW 650i was searched, revealing nearly half a pound of methamphetamine and 1,547.06 grams of imitation methamphetamine.

Among the weapons seized were two M20 Super Bazooka rockets, a semi-automatic rifle with ammunition, and methamphetamine residue. Becher is one of 12 defendants sentenced in this case, with six co-defendants pleading guilty and awaiting sentencing.
