Worcester Postal Supervisor Pleads Guilty to Mail-Theft of Cocaine

BOSTON – In a stunning revelation of corruption within the postal system, Kevin Dombroski, the supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service at Worcester Main Post Office, was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for stealing packages containing cocaine on at least eight occasions.

Dombroski, 43, of Worcester, faced Judge Mark G. Mastroianni, who handed down the sentence as well as three years of supervised release following Dombroski’s guilty plea to one count of theft of mail by an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in August 2022.

While employed at the Post Office, Dombroski is accused of stealing packages mailed from Puerto Rico to Worcester addresses he believed contained cocaine. He systematically removed these packages from the main processing area and opened them in a private office, extracting the drugs before returning the parcels for delivery. The illicit proceeds from this scheme totaled $7,500 per package.

United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins; Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the Northeast Area Field Office of the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General; and Matthew Millhollin, Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations in New England, all made the announcement regarding Dombroski’s conviction.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen Noto of Rollins’ Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case, ensuring justice was served for this significant breach of trust within the postal service.
