KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Grain Valley, Mo., man who returned to federal prison less than three months after being released for drug trafficking was sentenced today for his latest offense. Jason Rowland, 43, received a 15-year sentence without parole for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Rowland’s sentence includes four years and nine months for violating supervised release from a previous case in which he was convicted of distributing meth and carrying a firearm during drug trafficking. He had been released from federal prison on Jan. 29, 2021.
The search of Rowland’s hotel room by U.S. Probation Office officers on April 16, 2021, turned up almost 97 grams of meth, a loaded Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, electronics, scales, and cash totaling $1,920. The discovery came after GPS monitoring indicated daily stops at numerous locations.
Rowland pleaded guilty to the new charge on June 22, 2022, making this his ninth felony offense, seven of which were committed while under community supervision.
The case against Rowland was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashleigh Ragner, with investigations conducted by the U.S. Probation Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
