Tampa Gunman Gets Over a Decade Behind Bars

TAMPA, FL – The grim streets of Tampa were haunted once more by a shooting spree this week. U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington meted out over ten years to 45-year-old Milton Anthony Bradshaw for his criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition as a repeat offender.

Bradshaw’s nightmarish act unfolded at the Manchester Apartments on September 20, 2022, when he reportedly engaged in a heated argument with three individuals. What followed was a harrowing scene: as his victims attempted to leave, Bradshaw, armed and concealed behind a garbage bin, unleashed a hail of bullets.

Deputies from Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were first on the scene. They recovered a firearm abandoned by Bradshaw outside an apartment. Surveillance footage would later pinpoint the shooter, with DNA evidence from the firearm confirming his identity as the perpetrator.

This case was jointly investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael R. Kenneth and Chelsey Hanson, and handled administratively by Suzanne C. Nebesky.

Bradshaw’s sentence is a stark reminder of Project Safe Neighborhoods’ (PSN) relentless pursuit of violent crime reduction. Launched in May 2021, PSN focuses on fostering trust within communities, supporting local violence prevention initiatives, strategically enforcing laws, and measuring outcomes to ensure safer neighborhoods for all.

The judge’s sentence is a resounding victory for the justice system, underscoring the severe penalties faced by those who threaten the lives of innocent citizens with firearms. Bradshaw will now spend 10 years and 5 months locked away from society, serving time for his reckless actions.
