Arizona Dealer Sentenced to Over Seven Years for Meth and Fentanyl Distribution

RICHMOND, Va. – A hard-hitting blow was struck against the drug trade today as Matthew Stuart Powlowsky, a 35-year-old Arizona native, was sentenced to seven years and six months in federal prison for the distribution of methamphetamine and pills containing parafluorofentanyl and fentanyl.

The sentence came after Powlowsky pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The court documents revealed that three controlled buys were executed between February and March 2022, with Powlowsky selling a significant amount of meth and counterfeit Oxycodone pills directly to law enforcement.

In total, Powlowsky sold 86.48 grams of meth, which was determined to be 95% pure through forensic analysis. The drugs were shipped from Arizona to Virginia via mail.

U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Erik S. Siebert, and Stephen Farina, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Richmond Field Office, announced the sentencing following the decision by Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Gibney Jr. Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Mastandrea led the prosecution.
