PENSACOLA, FL – A pair of Mexican nationals have been slammed with serious immigration-related charges following a high-stakes operation in Navarre. Crescencio Diaz-Diaz, 36, and Marcelo Perez-Santiz, 33, are both accused of illegal reentry into the United States after being deported.
Diaz-Diaz has been hit with additional charges for possession and use of fraudulent employment authorization documents. His alleged crime spree came to light during a federal search warrant at Emerald Coast Lawns, where agents seized a fake green card and social security card in his name but bearing another’s details.
Perez-Santiz, who had previously been deported three times, was apprehended back in February at the same business. The charges against him were announced yesterday following an initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho.
Penalties for illegal reentry can be severe, carrying up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Both cases are under investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, with the support of multiple federal agencies.
This operation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide DOJ initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels, and protecting communities from violent crime.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida prosecutes such cases under the guidance of the Attorney General.
