Baltimore, Maryland – In a relentless crackdown on drug cartels, U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander sentenced Vincent Edison, 45, to 10 years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession of firearms by a prohibited person.
Edison, the mastermind behind a sprawling fentanyl trafficking operation in Maryland, was caught red-handed distributing massive quantities of the deadly substance across the state. According to U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, Edison’s drug den on Winchester and North Dukeland Streets was a daily hub for selling fentanyl capsules to countless individuals, including undercover officers.
Hayes revealed that Edison had a no-nonsense approach with his street dealers, sending texts demanding punctuality or face a docked pay cut. He also terminated employment at will, leaving a trail of profits from drug sales.
The DEA’s Washington Division and the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services joined forces with the Baltimore County Police Department to take Edison down. An investigation led to the discovery of a stash location in Baltimore County, where Edison was found with drugs concealed in black plastic bags and preparing them for distribution.
On January 27, 2023, investigators executed search warrants at Edison’s residence and stash location, uncovering firearms, luxury jewelry worth $150,000, cash, and a fentanyl lab equipped for mass production.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the relentless effort to combat drug trafficking in Maryland. U.S. Attorney Hayes commended all involved agencies for their coordinated efforts in dismantling Edison’s criminal enterprise.
