WASHINGTON – Lawrence Jordan, 44, a previously convicted felon from the District of Columbia, was sentenced today to 27 months in prison for illegal possession of a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic firearm. The weapon was concealed in a knee brace, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Jordan pleaded guilty on June 17, 2025, to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Along with his prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Randolph D. Moss ordered Jordan to serve three years of supervised release.
Joining the announcement were Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the ATF’s Washington Field Division and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the MPD. The ATF and MPD investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Gold.
Court documents reveal that on November 23, 2023, MPD officers arrested Jordan for lewd and indecent acts after responding to a report of aggressive panhandling. During a more thorough search at the First District, officers discovered the firearm underneath Jordan’s knee brace, loaded with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Jordan’s criminal history includes a 2009 conviction in Maryland for second-degree assault, fleeing, and driving while revoked, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence. He also has a 2010 Virginia conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm and 35 prior arrests.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by repeat offenders with access to firearms and underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat gun-related crime.
