ST. LOUIS – A chilling wave of carjackings in St. Louis has led to a high-stakes court drama, with two men facing double counts of carjacking and brandishing firearms during violent crimes. Davion Pruitt, 18, and Tywone Calvin, 19, were both indicted on July 30 by the U.S. District Court for their alleged roles in the sinister scheme.
The court heard that Pruitt and Calvin, along with Mya Reagan, 19, and Evanna Myers-Taylor, 20, are accused of orchestrating the armed seizure of a 2011 Cadillac Escalade on December 23, 2024. The duo struck again just three days later, this time with a 2017 Chevrolet Trax.
The court documents revealed that Pruitt and Calvin were apprehended after they stole the Trax, leading to a high-speed chase with St. Louis County Police Department officers. Both men faced charges, including brandishing firearms during their crimes. The women are accused of aiding in one of these heists.
According to the motions filed, the first victim was lured into an encounter by a woman who asked for help with buying cigars. Once at the gas station, she and another suspect forcibly took his keys, phone, and SUV. The second incident began when a key fob alert indicated trouble. The owner of the stolen Trax was confronted outside his home by two armed men.
Charges brought against Pruitt and Calvin are merely accusations, with each defendant entering not guilty pleas in court. Assistant U.S. Attorney Torrie J. Schneider is leading the prosecution for this case, which is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative to combat crime and illegal immigration.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the St. Louis County Police Department, and the FBI collaborated on this investigation. As the case unfolds, it underscores the city’s ongoing battle against violent crime, a fight that shows no signs of letting up.
