PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – The grim town of Pensacola was shook by a federal murder charge against Charles Carson-Dowdy, 30, from Mobile, Alabama. Carson-Dowdy is accused of the heinous act that led to the death of Starmichael L. Tucker earlier this year. United States Attorney John P. Heekin announced the charges against the suspect.
The defendant has been charged with cyberstalking, interstate domestic violence, murder through use of a firearm, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Carson-Dowdy’s initial appearance and arraignment are set for August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., before United States Magistrate Judge Hope Thai Cannon.
Should the defendant be found guilty, he faces life imprisonment. The investigation into this tragic incident has been a collaborative effort by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the State Attorney’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg is handling the prosecution of this case. The charges against Carson-Dowdy are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime.
An indictment is merely an accusation until proven in court. All defendants are presumed innocent. For more information on public court documents or the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, visit their respective websites.
