KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mexican national Geovanni L. Cano, 39, has been slapped with a six-count criminal complaint, charging him with distribution and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Kansas City area.
Cano was indicted on Aug. 29, 2025, for his alleged role in the distribution of approximately seven kilograms of meth over the past eight months. Law enforcement conducted six controlled buys to gather evidence against Cano, who operated under the banner of a Mexico-based broker.
On Aug. 28, 2025, authorities nabbed Cano with nearly four kilograms of meth during an operation that also unearthed an additional 18.6 kilograms in his Kansas City residence.
The charges against Cano are mere accusations and do not prove guilt. The burden of proof lies with a federal trial jury, which will decide the defendant’s innocence or guilt.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashleigh Ragner is handling the prosecution, supported by the DEA, Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, and IRS-Criminal Investigations. This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a joint effort by the Department of Justice and Homeland Security to crack down on cartels and TCOs.
Established by Executive Order 14159, Operation Take Back America is part of President Trump’s broader strategy to protect American communities from the perils of illegal immigration and violent crime. Cano’s case exemplifies the initiative’s commitment to eradicating organized crime and ensuring public safety.
