Bank Robber on the Loose: Lee County Man Indicted for 3 Heists

A brazen bank robber has been indicted for three separate heists in Lee County, leaving residents on high alert.

Daniel Glen Ball, 36, of Lee County, has been charged with three counts of bank robbery, according to an indictment unsealed in federal court. If convicted, Ball faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison for each count.

The indictment also notifies Ball that the United States intends to forfeit the proceeds of the offenses. Authorities claim that Ball robbed three banks between February 25, 2013, and March 1, 2013.

According to the indictment, Ball allegedly robbed a Fifth Third Bank on February 25, 2013, an Edison National Bank on February 28, 2013, and another Fifth Third Bank on March 1, 2013.

Law enforcement sources say the investigation was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fort Myers Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Assistant United States Attorney David G. Lazarus will be prosecuting the case. An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

The people of Lee County can rest a little easier knowing that the suspect is in custody. The community is still reeling from the shock of these brazen crimes, and many are left wondering how someone could commit such heinous acts.

As the investigation continues, residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
