In a brazen display of gang violence, Tahj Rankine, a 27-year-old member of the notorious GoodFellas gang, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a drive-by shooting that left innocent bystanders shaken. The incident occurred on an unspecified date, but the sentencing took place on April 30, 2026, in Tucker, Georgia.
According to court documents, Rankine pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, specifically attempted murder committed in aid of the GoodFellas’ racketeering enterprise. The gang’s reckless actions that day saw over 30 rounds fired into a crowded gas station, injuring an innocent bystander and others. Miraculously, a car containing children was also hit, but fortunately, no one was seriously harmed.
Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva condemned the gang’s actions, stating that violent gang activity has no place in communities. “Gang shootings in public places are all too common,” he said. “The defendant and his gang terrorized customers at a gas station, endangering innocent victims, and even hitting a car containing children.”
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg for the Northern District of Georgia vowed to continue targeting gangsters who disregard public safety and drive violence in the community. “Tahj Rankine drove a vehicle while fellow gang members shot out of it, maiming an innocent bystander,” he said. “Our Homeland Security Task Force will continue to target gangsters who disregard public safety and drive violence in our community.”
Rankine’s 10-year prison sentence and five years of supervised release serve as a stark reminder that gang violence will not be tolerated. The GoodFellas gang’s actions have left a lasting impact on the community, and it’s clear that law enforcement is committed to rooting out gang activity and keeping the streets safe.
