A 19-year-old Oklahoma City man has pleaded guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges, federal officials announced today.
JONATHAN MIRANDA, age 19, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, pled guilty to Drug Conspiracy, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 846, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A). The charge is a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
According to court documents, the indictment alleged that Miranda and others conspired to possess and distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and 500 grams or more of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
The alleged conspiracy began in or about July 2014 and continued until the date of the indictment in April 2015.
Miranda will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing. The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the guilty plea and ordered a presentence report to be completed.
Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States. The case was the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Miranda’s sentencing has not yet been scheduled. He faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $10 million.
