Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Marijuana Trafficking

Aaron C. Kreifels, a Grand Island man, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for his involvement in a marijuana trafficking operation. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska, Deborah R. Gilg, announced the sentencing on November 18, 2016.

According to the investigation, a search warrant was executed on Kreifels’ home on July 8, 2015. The search uncovered a large quantity of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, a 9 mm handgun, and $18,880 in cash. The FBI and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force were responsible for the investigation of this case.

Kreifels was arrested on July 9, 2015, in Grand Island, Nebraska, and subsequently brought to Lincoln for prosecution. He pled guilty to the charges on August 25, 2016. The charges included possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

As part of his sentence, Kreifels was also ordered to forfeit $18,880 in cash, which was deemed proceeds of his drug trafficking operation. He was further sentenced to 3 years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office praised the efforts of the FBI and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force for their work in bringing Kreifels to justice.
