A 23-year-old Borger, Texas man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his role in a child pornography case.
Aaron Robert Wells was sentenced to five years in federal prison, following his guilty plea in April 2014 to one count of transportation of child pornography, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson made the announcement, and Wells was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
According to documents filed in the case, in March 2012, Wells was contacted online by an undercover law enforcement officer through file sharing software.
Wells had saved numerous images of child pornography on his computer and had made them available for online sharing. Among other images, the undercover officer downloaded two images of minor males engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lubbock, Texas, prosecuted.
