Grimy Times has learned that Adalinda Saucedo, a 28-year-old woman from Arizona, has been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The harsh sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Thomas L. Parker in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to court documents, Saucedo was stopped by a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office West Tennessee Drug Task Force agent on January 24, 2022, for speeding along I-40. A search of her vehicle led to the recovery of 5,869 grams of fentanyl.
The discovery of the illicit substance prompted a federal grand jury to return a one-count indictment against Saucedo in March 2022, charging her with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Saucedo pled guilty on June 27, 2022.
Kevin G. Ritz, United States Attorney, announced the sentence, which includes four years of supervised release following the completion of Saucedo’s prison term. It’s worth noting that there is no parole in the federal system.
The case was investigated by the Shelby County West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Special Assistant United States Attorney Sean Hord prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
Saucedo’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in fentanyl trafficking. As the opioid epidemic continues to ravage communities across the country, law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to disrupt the supply chain and bring perpetrators to justice.
