Sacramento Man Sentenced to More Than 7 Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A federal judge has handed down a sentence of seven years and 10 months in prison to Adilson Jose Montiero, 42, of Sacramento, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. This decision comes after U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced the case against Montiero.

On November 19, 2020, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a federal search warrant at Montiero’s residence in Sacramento. During the search, authorities found a total of more than 1.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, approximately half a pound of counterfeit Ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine, and smaller amounts of cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and counterfeit M-30 pills containing fentanyl. Agents also discovered four handguns, three of which were Glock-style handguns with no serial number known as “ghost” guns.

According to court documents, Montiero’s actions demonstrate a pattern of involvement in the methamphetamine trade and the possession of firearms. This case serves as an example of the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and the distribution of illicit substances in the region.

The investigation into Montiero’s activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer prosecuted the case.
