A’jene Rashodd Cornelius, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Arkansas 2023

A’jene Rashodd Cornelius, a 29-year-old Texarkana, Arkansas man, was sentenced to 121 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey presided over the sentencing hearing, which was held in the United States District Court in Texarkana.

According to court records, on November 9, 2021, investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Texarkana Arkansas Police, Bi-State Narcotics Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations served a federal search warrant at the residence of Cornelius. Cornelius and two family members, including a small child, were present when the search warrant was executed. Inside the residence, investigators found and seized over 1.3 pounds of pure methamphetamine, multiple loaded firearms, and over $13,000 in drug trafficking proceeds. Cornelius pleaded guilty in August 2023.

U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes made the announcement. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bi-State Narcotics Task Force investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Graham Jones prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation revealed that Cornelius was involved in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation. The seized methamphetamine had an estimated street value of over $100,000. The case is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trafficking network in the region.

Cornelius’ sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the need to hold those responsible for methamphetamine trafficking accountable. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to disrupt and dismantle methamphetamine trafficking operations.
