AKRON, OH – Two Akron men are facing serious federal charges after a July raid uncovered a significant stash of the deadly opioid fentanyl. Brian L. Williams, 54, and Terrance L. Ford, 50, were indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to U.S. Attorney Carole S. Rendon.

The bust went down on July 27, 2016, when detectives from the Akron Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, working alongside officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force, executed a search warrant at the men’s Akron residence. Court documents reveal authorities seized over 100 grams of a substance containing fentanyl, along with numerous fentanyl patches – enough to kill countless individuals.

This isn’t a petty drug case; we’re talking about a substantial amount of a substance that’s fueling the overdose crisis gripping the nation. The DEA and Akron PD have been cracking down on fentanyl distribution networks, and this indictment is another blow to those pushing poison onto the streets.

Assistant United States Attorney Aaron P. Howell is prosecuting the case, building a solid legal argument based on the evidence collected during the raid. The investigation was a joint effort between the Akron Police Department and the DEA, demonstrating a commitment to tackling drug trafficking at the local and federal levels.
