Former cocaine dealer Montravis Luke, 30, of Albany, Georgia, has been sentenced to serve 144 months in federal prison for his role in a drug conspiracy. United States District Court Judge W. Louis Sands imposed the sentence on August 7, 2014.
Luke, along with Timothy Lemonica Johnson (a/k/a ‘Big Timmy’), Joseph Lewis Guest III (a/k/a ‘Big Joe’), and Darion Jay Gillison, conspired to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine from September 2012 to September 2013. The group purchased the drug from Toney Ricardo Mosely (a/k/a ‘Toney Montana’) and then resold it.
Luke was apprehended after selling cocaine to an informant in a parking lot at the Village Green Shopping Center in Albany on May 9, 2013.
U.S. Attorney Michael Moore praised the cooperation of state and local partners for their role in dismantling the drug ring. ‘Every time we shut down a group of drug suppliers, it is a victory for the local community,’ he said.
Acting Special Agent in Charge Ray Brown emphasized the importance of enforcing laws against drug trafficking. ‘ATF agents will not allow flagrant violations of our laws to go unpunished,’ he stated.
Albany Police Chief John Proctor expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the investigation, hoping it would deter future criminal activity. ‘These individuals have long been involved in criminal activity in the Albany-Dougherty area, and we will not tolerate it,’ he said.
