Stamford Man Caught Dealing Heroin and Cocaine, Faces 20 Years in Prison
Albert Lee Robinson, a 57-year-old Stamford resident, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and violating the conditions of his supervised release. Robinson was arrested on August 14, 2018, after Stamford Police found him in possession of approximately 17 grams of heroin, 19 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of powder cocaine, and a quantity of marijuana, much of which was packaged for distribution. Officers also seized a digital scale and $2,052 in cash.
According to court documents, Robinson was sentenced to 188 months of imprisonment in January 2004, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine. He was released from prison in August 2017 and began serving his supervised release term.
On August 14, 2018, Robinson was arrested on state charges after the Stamford Police found him in possession of the controlled substances. A federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging Robinson with one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances on August 14, 2018.
Robinson has been detained since his federal arrest. He faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years for distributing controlled substances and an additional term of imprisonment for violating the conditions of his supervised release.
Robinson’s sentencing is scheduled for March 12, 2019, before U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Anthony E. Kaplan and Elena L. Coronado.
The Stamford Police Department, with the assistance of the DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, executed a federal arrest warrant for Robinson on September 6, 2018. At the time of his arrest, Robinson possessed a bag of powder cocaine on his person.
