Alcantar-Sida, Violent Crime, Illinois, 2021

On March 8, 2021, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment of Juan Carlos Alcantar-Sida, a 37-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, on multiple federal charges related to violent crime.

According to court documents, Alcantar-Sida was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).1 Additionally, he was charged with conspiracy to commit violent crimes in aid of racketeering activity, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1962(d). The charges stemmed from an ongoing investigation into a violent street gang operating in the Chicago area.

On December 17, 2021, a grand jury in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois indicted Alcantar-Sida on the aforementioned charges.
