Alec Respects Nothing, a 31-year-old man from Manderson, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
According to a federal jury, Respects Nothing was guilty of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. He was sentenced on February 18, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.
Respects Nothing was involved in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, which he obtained from multiple large-scale suppliers and sold to others, primarily on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Many of the people he supplied with methamphetamine went on to further distribute it to others.
During his involvement in the conspiracy, Respects Nothing was responsible for obtaining methamphetamine from multiple suppliers and selling it to others, contributing to the further distribution of the controlled substance.
The case against Respects Nothing was investigated by the Badlands Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, which is comprised of agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gina S. Nelson prosecuted the case.
Respects Nothing was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after his sentencing. He will also serve five years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
