A 47-year-old Houston resident, Alejandro Munoz, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for his role in a heroin and cocaine trafficking operation in Louisiana.
According to court documents, Munoz was identified by Special Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration as a supplier of heroin and cocaine hydrochloride to customers in Houston, Texas, and New Orleans. The investigation began in October 2014 and led to the indictment of Munoz on one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and five kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(A), and 846.

Other agencies involved in the investigation included the Drug Enforcement Administration offices in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the New Orleans Police Department, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney André Jones.
