Sioux City Man Pleads Guilty to Meth Conspiracy

A 29-year-old Sioux City man has been found guilty of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in the city. Alexander Summers was arrested and charged in May 2025 after a lengthy investigation by the Tri-State Drug Task Force.

According to court documents, Summers was involved in a methamphetamine trafficking ring that operated in the Sioux City area for five months in 2023. During this time, he and his co-conspirators distributed large quantities of the drug, including over 400 grams of pure methamphetamine on one occasion.

Summers also admitted to assisting another individual in methamphetamine trafficking in exchange for a place to live in Sioux City. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, as well as a $10,000,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde. The investigation was conducted by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, which consists of law enforcement personnel from various agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office.

Summers remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. The court has yet to set a date for his sentencing hearing, but it is expected to occur after a presentence report is prepared.
