Oscar Francisco Avila-Norales, a 47-year-old Honduran national, was found in Texas in 2012 after re-entering the United States without authorization. This was not his first encounter with immigration authorities, as he had been previously deported on October 3, 2012. Avila-Norales pleaded guilty to Illegal Re-entry of a Removed Alien and was sentenced on March 24, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Avila-Norales’ sentence included time served, one year of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. He was also ordered to be removed back to Honduras. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational crime.
