Orlando Jose Jarquin Orozco, a 36-year-old Nicaraguan national, has been sentenced for re-entering the United States after being deported. The incident occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Jarquin Orozco was convicted of second-degree battery in Jefferson Parish prior to his deportation in 2016. On July 9, 2026, he was sentenced to 42 months in prison for his crime. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational crime.
Jarquin Orozco’s sentencing includes a fine of $100,000, a three-year term of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee. His guilty plea to illegal reentry of a removed alien, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326, led to the sentencing by United States District Judge William J. Crain.
The United States Attorney’s Office, led by David I. Courcelle, praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Office of the Inspector General for the Social Security Administration in investigating the matter. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman prosecuted the case.
