A Portland resident has pleaded guilty to damaging federal property in a brazen attack on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building.
Alistair Macfarlane Sidener, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of depredation of government property, a serious crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
The attack occurred on June 12, 2025, when Sidener intentionally damaged several cameras mounted on the facility by shooting paint at them from a water gun and striking cameras with a long metal pole. Shortly after, Sidener lit debris on fire that had been placed against a metal gate.
As part of the plea agreement, Sidener has agreed to pay restitution in full. He will be sentenced on May 27, 2026, before a U.S. District Court Judge.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
Sidener’s guilty plea is a significant blow to those who seek to damage federal property and disrupt the important work of ICE agents.
